Green apple, pear and elderflower set this limited Luperia apart from the citrus-led gin the house is known for. Luperia was set up in La Louvière in 2019 by a group of friends from the town, and the 2026 limited edition, named Le Luperiaal in a nod to the local football club RAAL La Louvière, is bottled at 42% ABV.

The fruit is the whole point of this bottling. The green apple gives a crisp, slightly tart opening, pear a rounder and softer sweetness, while elderflower adds a floral lift that ties the two together. Juniper holds the structure so the bottle stays a gin rather than drifting towards a fruit liqueur, and the recipe is deliberately short: four elements, each clearly identifiable, with nothing added afterwards to sweeten the result.
Apple and pear arrive together on the nose, fresh rather than cooked, with elderflower just behind and juniper underneath.
The palate keeps that orchard character: the apple provides the acidity, the pear the body, and the flower runs through the middle without turning perfumed. It finishes dry and moderately long, fruit fading into juniper with a faint floral trace left at the end. It is an easy gin in the good sense of the word, built for drinking rather than for study.
An elderflower tonic is the obvious partner, since it doubles the flower: 4cl of gin lengthened with 10cl of it, plenty of ice, and a thin slice of green apple. A plain tonic works too and leaves more room for the pear, which is the half of the recipe most people notice second. Local editions like this one are made in small numbers and tied to a place and a season, so the bottle ends up being as much a souvenir of the town of La Louvière as it is a gin to drink.
