Lightly Singed Rosemary SprigFAIR Juniper Gin is produced by the French brand FAIR., a company recognised for its focus on ethical sourcing and Fair Trade certified ingredients. The gin is distilled in France, in the Cognac region, using a base made from Fair Trade quinoa. This choice of base spirit sets it apart from many traditional grain-based gins and reflects the brand’s commitment to supporting farming communities, particularly in South America where the quinoa is sourced.
The botanical selection combines a strong juniper core with a range of spices and roots that reinforce both structure and complexity. Uzbek juniper berries form the backbone of the recipe, accompanied by coriander seeds, cardamom pods, angelica root and Timut pepper. Timut pepper, a rare Himalayan berry related to Szechuan pepper, is known for its distinctive grapefruit-like aroma and its subtle tingling sensation, which contributes a unique citrus-spicy dimension to the gin.
On the nose, FAIR Juniper Gin opens with a clear and fresh expression of juniper. This is quickly followed by bright citrus notes, reminiscent of grapefruit and lemon zest, lifted by the slightly exotic character of Timut pepper. Underneath, there are gentle herbal and warm spice notes coming from cardamom and coriander, giving the aromatic profile both freshness and depth.
On the palate, the gin shows a clean and well-defined structure. Juniper remains central, supported by soft citrus tones and a light, natural sweetness from the quinoa base. Coriander and angelica root add an earthy and slightly dry backbone, while Timut pepper contributes a subtle tingling sensation and a refined bitterness that enhances complexity without overpowering the balance.
The finish is dry, lingering and refreshing, with echoes of citrus peel, soft spice and herbal tones. The overall sensation is crisp and structured, making the gin suitable both for simple serves and more elaborate cocktails.
FAIR Juniper Gin works particularly well in a classic gin and tonic, where its citrus and spicy elements can be highlighted with a slice of grapefruit or lemon. It also performs well in a dry Martini, where its firm juniper expression and dry profile are allowed to take centre stage, as well as in more structured cocktails such as the Negroni.
