Fresh RosemarySpirit of the Creuse is an ultra limited barrel aged gin from Distillerie Le Compas in France. Created as the distillery’s Concept Gin 2025, it is presented as a tribute to the Creuse and to a natural, local inspiration. Bottled at 48 percent alcohol by volume, it is positioned as a rare release intended to deliver a distinctive tasting profile.
The production is described as being infused with 11 carefully selected botanicals. Among those specifically identified are smoked juniper berries and local honey, two elements that shape both the aromatic direction and the texture. After botanical infusion, the gin rests for five months in acacia casks, a maturation step that is central to its identity as a barrel aged gin.
Aromatically, the profile is built around juniper and coriander as the classical frame, then develops a more rounded and warm character through the influence of acacia wood. The smoked juniper note is expected to bring a subtle smoky accent rather than an overt peat like intensity, while the honey contributes perceived richness and softness.
On the palate, Spirit of the Creuse is described as bold yet delicate. The high strength supports concentration and length, with a structured, warming mouthfeel. The finish is driven by wood influence and spice, with lingering juniper and a gentle sweetness impression linked to honey.
This style of gin can be enjoyed slowly, either on the rocks to soften the alcohol and open aromatics, or in simple serves that respect the barrel aged character. The distillery positions it as a limited availability release to discover before it disappears.
